The Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl History

The Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl celebrated the 7th anniversary of it's postseason college football bowl game in December of 2016 with an overtime shootout featuring Army defeating North Texas by a score of 38-31 in front of a national ESPN audience. 

Owned and operated by ESPN Events, the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl has been supported by a many Dallas-based corporations and organizations including the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau, City of Dallas, Omni Hotel Dallas and Hyatt Regency Dallas.  The bowl game serves as one of several Heart of Dallas Foundation events aimed at inspiring Dallas millennials to be the next generation of influencers and philanthropists.  Beginning in 2014, the event dedicated itself to honoring first responders in our community through a pre-game fan fest, tributes throughout the game, and partnerships with local first responder philanthropic organizations.  

Previously the game was referred to as the TicketCity Bowl for the 2011 and 2012 games with the Heart of Dallas presented by Plains Capital Bank introduced on October 4, 2012. Zaxby's was introduced as the new title sponsor for the Heart of Dallas Bowl on October 21, 2014; officially naming the game the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl.
